EXPERIENCE IN INTERPRETING AND TRANSLATION
I became proficient in English during my physics studies. I completed most of my academic requirements in English as opposed to my native Spanish, and I wrote my BA and MSc dissertations in English. By the time I completed my MSc, I had also become proficient in Colombian Sign Language (CSL) and I performed translation services involving Spanish, English, and/or CSL. I became a CSL interpreter at the Colombian National Institute for the Deaf. Additionally, I volunteered as an English/CSL interpreter at the SIL-UND program at the University of North Dakota.
EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATION
In the 2000s, I organized and taught workshops on configuring and compiling the Linux kernel. In 2006, I taught physics in Colombia. In 2015-2021, I taught anthropology in the United States. I earned an International Teaching Fellowship at the Teaching and Learning Transformation Center, University of Maryland, College Park. I was also distinguished with a Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award at the University of Maryland, College Park, for my work as an instructor.
